The length of my longing
spans four dimensions
the distance an eyelid blinks
during a three hour sandstorm
the potential of a well-fertilized
mint sprig in an open field
tip of ear to tip of foot
of a rabbit chased by a hawk
every waxing moon
for three generations
whichever is longer
